Arua contact tests positive for Covid-19 as 8 new cases are confirmed

National—13, June 2020: Uganda is close to reaching 700 total cases of confirmed Covid-19 infections. Announcing the Friday results tested on Saturday, the Ministry of Health confirmed 8 new cases.

This brings the country’s total confirmed cases to 694—only four cases to reach 700.

Announcing the results via Twitter, the Ministry says four truck drivers from Elegu and one truck driver from Mutukula Points of Entry tested positive for Covid-19.

Three (3) are among contacts and alerts from: Two (2) from Kyotera and one (1) from Arua districts.

Eighteen (18) foreign truck drivers tested positive for Covid-19. Uganda’s total recoveries now at 199

1,439 samples from Points of Entry, 1,149 samples from alerts and contacts were tested on Friday.

A total of 2,588 samples were tested today yesterday [Friday].

Meanwhile, State Minister for Primary Health Care [PHC] Dr Hon. Joyce Moriku Kaducu on Friday superintended the discharge of 20 recovered Covid-19 patients who were admitted to Lira Regional Referral Hospital. This brings the total number of those discharged from Lira hospital to 21.

Jinja Regional Referral Hospital has also, on Saturday, discharged 13 Covid-19 recovered patients. The total discharges on Saturday stood at 33.
