Amolatar | Police in Amolatar district are investigating an alleged robbery that took place on July 20, 2024, at around 12:40 a.m. along the Amolatar-Acengryeng road.
On the aforementioned date, it is claimed that Ogar Emmanuel, 34, a Jaluo from Kenya and resident of Tangipai village, Sebei parish, Buda sub-county, was picked up from his home by a friend identified as Okello David.
For the past eight years, they have lived in Kenya together. Ogar, when approached, decided to visit his friend’s home village in Amolatar.
When they arrived in Amolatar, Okello chose a boda boda rider with motorcycle registration number UFF 166B, a Bajaj.
“When they arrived at Acengryeng, they were attacked by three men armed with knives, and the victim was robbed of his personal belongings, including cash worth shs3.5 million,” said SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, PRO of North Kyoga Region.
The unidentified boda boda rider and Okello, according to SP Okema, joined the attackers to rob Okello’s friend, who he had travelled from Kenya with.
“Ogar Emmanuel was later suspected of being injected with a poisonous substance on his right arm and forced to drink an unknown substance in a bottle, rendering him unconscious.
Okema added that the suspects fled in an unknown direction, leaving Ogar in the bush.
However, he regained consciousness around 2 a.m., found his way, reported the incident to Amolatar CPS, and was immediately referred to Amolatar HCIV for medical attention, where he is currently admitted.
On Monday, PRO Okema confirmed that a case of aggravated robbery had been registered under CRB: 279/2024. “The victim was interviewed, his statement was recorded, and he was later referred to Amolatar HCIV for medical treatment.”
“The crime scene has yet to be visited because the victim was unable to direct us to it. No arrests have been made yet, and all suspects are on the run.”
The police are now appealing to anyone who knows Okello David, the prime suspect, to contact them so that he can be arrested to aid the investigation.
