Lira | Lira City woman MP Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero praised Miss Lango organisers for embracing Lango culture.
The 2024 edition intends to address climate change. Dr. Aceng promised to provide the 11 contestants with 100 tree seedlings each to help them achieve their goal and deal with the effects of climate change on society.
She also contributed shs1 million to the organisers. Dr. Aceng’s political office in Lira City says their principal is dedicated to promoting tourism and joining forces to combat climate change in Lango and northern Uganda.

On July 21, the Pacific Grand Hotel hosted the 2024 Miss Lango edition, with all of the available seats taken.
Dr. Aceng, who had recently returned from Toronto, Canada, was represented by her technical advisor, Madam Emma Okite, the Dean of Students at Lira University.
Through Okite, she advised that as Lango, we should conserve our environment by planting 5-10 trees for every one we cut down.

In her absence, the Minister’s representatives launched a tree planting campaign in Lango to combat climate change.
The audience would also be reminded of the upcoming Women’s Health Camp.

The camp will run from August 5 to 9, 2024, at Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
She humbly requested that women and young girls in Lira City and Lango take advantage of this incredible opportunity and come for a variety of services such as general and specialised consultations, surgeries, family planning, nutrition, and wellness.
Other free medical services include mental health, infertility treatment, immunity and child health, as well as screening for breast cancer, HIV, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
Notable personalities who attended the Miss Lango event included Northern Youth MP Boniface Okot, RCC Lira City Laury Lawrence Egole, Woman MP for Lira District Agnes Linda Auma, and RDC of Apac District Abdul George.
Others included ARCC of Lira City, Bonny Otucu, ARDC of Otuke, Isaac Opio Opeo, Lira University Don Dr. Laury Lawrence Ocen, and several cultural leaders, among others.
