Apac | One person is being held in connection with the alleged mob murder of 50-year-old Oyet Denis.
According to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, PRO of North Kyoga Region, the deceased lived at the Apalamio landing site in Apoi subcounty, Apac district.
SP Okema stated that the murder occurred on July 15, 2024.
“Police learned about the incident when Odongo Joseph, a member of the Village Health Team at the landing site, reported the crime around 19:30 p.m.
“It is claimed that on July 15, 2024, at approximately 16:40 p.m., one Oyet Denis was apprehended by a group of people for allegedly stealing a goat at the Apalamio landing site. The suspect was beaten by a mob and later died.”
The Wansolo Police Post has registered a case of mob murder, according to the PRO.
The Officer in-charge of Wansolo Police Post and his team visited the scene of the crime.
One suspect has been arrested to assist in investigations, and statements were obtained from relevant witnesses.
A team of homicide and Scene of Crime Officers will return to the crime scene today to conduct proper documentation and a postmortem, Okema said.
