Amolatar | Felix Adupa Ongwech, President of the Transformer Cadres Association (TCA) and former Kyoga County Member of Parliament candidate, has written to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Amolatar district.
Ongwech is demanding the budget allocations and work plans for road construction for fiscal years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024.
Alongside the budget breakdowns, he demands the approved bills of quantities for these projects.
His Thursday letter highlighted the poor road network in certain areas of Amolatar district, despite consistent central government funding for road construction.
He has questioned the circumstances surrounding the CAO’s request to the CID Amolatar to investigate Eng. Ecir Denis’ alleged mismanagement of over shs49 million intended for fuel and machine operator allowances.
The TCA president noted that the mismanagement has harmed several road projects in the district.
Adupa has issued the CAO a four-working-day deadline to provide all requested information, citing Article 41 of the Ugandan Constitution, which guarantees citizens’ access to information.
He has threatened to stage a demonstration if his demands are not met.
Once the reports are received, he intends to engage communities in monitoring road projects across Amolatar’s 16 sub-counties to ensure the accuracy of the reports and assess the value for money on the ground.
This demand comes shortly after President Museveni announced a fresh commitment to fighting corruption, which has led to the imprisonment of some legislators on corruption-related charges.
CAO Paul Samuel Mbiiwa couldn’t be reached by tndNews for a comment by press time.
