38 evades police interviews in Lango

Lira | Of the 547 candidates who applied to join the Uganda Police Force as Probationer Police Constables (PPCs) in North Kyoga (Lango), 38 declined to participate in the interviews.

The interview process began on May 6 and ended on May 13, 2024, according to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Region’s PRO.

According to SP Okema, 85 candidates in Oyam district expressed interest and were shortlisted for interviews. Unfortunately, he said 10 candidates did not show up on May 6 at Anyeke Primary School.

In Kole district, 44 of the 45 shortlisted candidates attended a series of interviews. The Kole interviews were conducted at Kole Primary School.

In Kole, no one was disqualified for medical reasons, according to Okema, who added that everyone went through a variety of procedures.

Meanwhile, three of the 57 shortlisted candidates in the Apac district did not attend their interviews. The interviews took place at Apac Primary School.

Abudul George, the RDC of Apac, asked the candidates if they were passionate about joining the police.

“I am now encouraging them to be disciplined. The police force is a disciplined institution, and anyone who joins must be disciplined and honest,” he told tndNews.

The Regional PRO also stated that during the fitness tests in Apac, one girl fainted near the end of a 5km run and was rushed to Apac General Hospital.

Fortunately, the medics managed her well after determining that her sugar level had dropped.

On the fourth day, out of the 42 candidates who were shortlisted in Kwania, all of them appeared for interviews on May 9, 2024, at Aduku Secondary School.

The Assistant RDC of Kwania Ceaser Obadah thanked the candidates and encouraged them to be disciplined and patient during the interview process.

According to Okema, 24 candidates were shortlisted in the Lira district, but only 23 attended it. In Lira City Central, 40 candidates were shortlisted, but one chose not to participate.

 In City West, all 13 candidates were present, while in City East, one of the 23 shortlisted candidates did not show up.

Other districts include Dokolo, where 87 people were shortlisted but only six were questioned, and Alebtong, where ten people stayed home out of 87.

On the final day of the interviews in Amolatar, two of the 34 participants did not show up.

In Otuke, 14 people showed up, while two declined to be interrogated.

Overall, 344 boys and 165 girls applied to join the police force.

CP Ssegiriinya Fredrick congratulated the candidates on being shortlisted and interviewed, saying they are joining a disciplined Force.

The North Kyoga Regional RPC, SSP Tugiizire Allan, warned the candidates to avoid giving money to people who claimed to help them right away.

They have been asked to remain disciplined while they await the results of the interviews and invitations to training in Masindi.
