Amolatar | On Sunday, the body of an unidentified man was recovered from the Kitwe water body on Lake Kyoga.
The incident occurred in Agwingiri subcounty, Amolatar district.
Mary Kitwe, a resident, said she overheard someone asking for help on Saturday night but was unable to come out at the time.
However, the next day, at 9:00 p.m., the fishermen who had gone fishing discovered a dead body floating, Kitwe remembered.
“I cannot actually say if he is the one who was asking for help at night,” she added.
The deceased, who appears to be in his 30s, is dressed in a red Uganda Cranes jersey.
Ewumu George, the chairperson of the Kitwe landing site, confirms the retrieval of an unknown person’s body on Sunday, April 14 in the afternoon.

Ewumu told tndNews that while some people claimed to know the deceased, after retrieving his body, they discovered he was not known.

“Fishermen on Saturday at about 9:00 pm got a floating body in water around landing site, hence on Sunday we retrieved the body and reported the case at Amolatar Central Police Station.
“Police picked up the body while the search for relatives continues,” Ewumu added.
SSP Twheyo Meble, the district CID Officer in Amolatar, confirmed picking up the body of an unidentified man.
SSP Meble added that the body is now at Amolatar health center IV mortuary pending postmortem as they wait for the relatives who are not known yet.
“…we now call on anyone who may have lost a relative to contact Amolatar Health Centre IV in Amolatar district,” he said.
It is still unknown what caused his death.
