Kampala | The Muslim community has urged to join efforts to fight against extremism and elements that want to spoil the good name of Islam.
A UPDF top officer says the Islamic religion is known for advocating peace for all the people of Uganda.
The Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation of Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Colonel Sam Ntambirwe, said this on April 9, 2024, while delivering an assortment of donations to Uganda Muslim Supreme Council at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Headquarters, Old Kampala.
“Sadly, there are some extremists and terrorists who want to come and hide under the cover of Islam and to portray the Muslim faith as hostile, threatening and dangerous,” Col Ntambirwe said.
He commended the Muslim leadership for spreading the President’s gospel of peace and unity, a solution to Uganda’s problems.

The Secretary General of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Hajj Abbas Muluubya Sekyanzi, thanked the UPDF for the good sacrificial work to ensure peace for all Ugandans.
Abbas promised all Ugandans and UPDF, in particular, that no Muslim in Uganda would collaborate with terrorists.
The donations included 20 Jerrycans of cooking oil (20litres), 20 sacks of rice and 10 bags of sugar.
Uganda joins the rest of the world and Muslim communities to commemorate Eid al-Fitr.
