“Popular” Lira City boda-boda rider killed

Lira | A young man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a fellow boda boda rider in Lira City and dumping his body along the Lira-Soroti highway. 

Police in Lira City West Division say they are investigating circumstances under which Otwii Tom popularly known as Morning, 22, was killed from Lela Tala Cell Angwetigwet Ward Lira City West Division.

While at the disco place, they developed a quarrel that turned into a fight. Otwii was beaten and killed, and his body was carried away and dumped along the Lira Soroti highway near Gwegibara Church of Uganda, SP Okema revealed.

The PRO added that a case file of murder was opened at Lira City West Division. Otwii’s body was conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary for postmortem.

The preliminary findings, Okema said, indicate that the deceased was dressed in a black trouser and canvas shoes, he had bruises on his left hand and broken jaws with blood coming from the mouth.

“The neck looks twisted or stifled. However, postmortem will reveal more,” according to Okema, adding, “Motive not yet established, suspect Jonga Morris has been arrested and in custody to support Police investigation.”

Lira Resident City State Attorney has received the file for perusal and legal advice before the suspect is produced before the court.
