Kampala | On Wednesday, November 15, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party senior leaders visited the Supreme Mufti of Kibuli Sheikh Mohammed Shaban Galabuzi.
During the closed meeting, the visiting leaders discussed and shared matters of national development with the Muslim leader.
The NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong and the party’s 1st National Vice Chairman Al Hajji Moses Kigongo represented the party.
Later SG Todwong addressed the press, saying that their purpose was to engage with the leadership, express gratitude for their positive impact on the community, and explore opportunities for collaboration in social and economic development.
Todwong emphasised the common interests of both parties in improving the well-being of ordinary people, stating, “We realised as leaders that we share similar goals in serving the community and enhancing their living conditions.”
“He mentioned discussions on various government projects and how different institutions could benefit from these initiatives,” the ruling party said.
According to the NRM, similar interactions had taken place with officials from the Buganda Kingdom and Kampala Archdiocese, and Todwong expressed the intention to visit more institutions, aiming to align their leadership goals with the broader objective of improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
The Director of Communication and Research in the Office of the Supreme Mufti, Dr. Muhammed Kiggundu, said the Supreme Mufti was glad to receive the two NRM principals.
“We had very fruitful discussions, and we hope to forge a better way of enhancing relations as we all strive to improve the communities of our people,” Dr Kiggundu said.
