Exclusive: Why Bobi Wine will be in Lira City on Saturday, June 10

Lira, June 7, 2023: The President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party is expected to be in Lira City on Saturday, June 10.

Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine will lead a delegation of top party leaders, TND News has exclusively been told.

The time they will arrive has not been revealed to this publication but reasons are given.

Adonyo Micheal Chris, the Regional Coordinator of NUP for Lango sub-region confirmed his boss’ visit at the weekend.

“After successfully vetting the three candidates who had shown interest as flag bearers, the party plans to officially unveil its flag bearer for Oyam North MP By-election this Saturday,” says Adonyo.

According to him, the unveiling will take place at NUP’s Sub-regional headquarters in Lira City.

Okello Daniel was voted by the party and will be nominated by the National Electoral Commission to vie for the vacant seat following the death of Col. Rtd. Okello Engola Macodwogo on May 2.

After the main event of unveiling the party flag bearer, NUP office for Lango in Lira City did not reveal where Wine will head to.

The race to replace Macodwogo has attracted more than eight aspirants with two candidates for UPC and NUP already confirmed.

NRM party will have to vote between Amb Julius Peter Moto, Queen Dorothy Amolo, Augustine Obangakene, Billy Otto, Bala Daniel and Willy Omodo Omodo as they race for the party flag.
