Kole gets third vocational school, 123 in first enrollment

Kole district has two leading vocational schools, with each in the two constituencies.

Kole, August 30, 2022: Kole North Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Opio Samuel Acuti has launched another vocational training school in Kole.

The third vocational centre is located in Aboke Town council. 

“123 students registered and over the next six months will be skilled in carpentry, tailoring, bricklaying and masonry and motorcycle repair,” MP Opio said.

The event took place last week on Sunday. Dozens of training materials were given to school.

 Dr Opio said the training will officially begin on September 5, 2022. 

Akalo and Alito Technical schools are the two leading and popular institutions in the district. The are located in Kole South and North, respectively.

Ugandan private sector requires technical and professional subjects and this would make the country’s economy shift from excessive dependence on expatriate labour to rely on national employment, research  says.

“For Uganda to develop, both the private sector and the public sector have to be active,” it adds.

“Most Ugandans consider technical education to be for academically weak students. Parents take their children to technical institutes when they have failed to look for good schools and technical education become last choice. Today, most people believe that an academic education is the only route to a secure job and social prestige,” as reported by Student Hub.
