IWPG, Global 12 Region of the IWPG holds preliminary online Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony was for the 4th International Loving Peace Art Competition.


About 300 student participants from Jeonju, Iksan, Gunsan, and Jeongeup Elementary, Middle And High Schools took part.

Seoul – July 21, 2022: On July 16th, the Global 12 Region of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG, Global Regional Director Yeo Mi-Hyeon) completed the online awards ceremony for a preliminary round of ‘the 4th International Loving Peace Art Competition’.

 The event, held under the theme of “World United by the Light of Peace,” took place on the 25th of last month, non-face-to-face with about 300 elementary, middle, and high school students from the four branches of Jeonju, Iksan, Gunsan, and Jeongeup.

 The ‘International Loving Peace Art Competition’’ was prepared to awaken the painful history of the war to children and youth, to hope for an end to the war, and to spread a culture of peace around the world. In addition, this event was held for the fourth time this year, starting in 2018, under the theme of peace, such as Love for Peace, the Eradication of Weapons, the End of the War in the Global Village, and Peace Culture.

 Yang O-Rin (1st grader, Mijang Elementary School), who won first place that day, said, “Participating in this competition made me think about war and peace once again. . She continued, “I was very sad watching the Russian-Ukrainian war on TV. I hope wars never happen again. And I am happy to receive the top prize.”

 Yeo Mi-Hyeon, the head of the Global 12 Region, said, “This year, we are holding the 4th International Loving Peace Art Competition. She continued, “I hope that the ‘International Loving Peace Art Competition,’ which instills the spirit of peace from a young age, develops day by day, as terror and war, which should never exist in this world, will disappear, and will serve as a precious medium to build a beautiful world of peace. I am sure it will,” she said.

 The three best works selected in the preliminary competition by domestic branches will be gathered to be selected as the three best works of Korea. And they will compete with the works sent to the IWPG headquarters from around the world in the finals. The awards ceremony for the works selected as the best in the finals is scheduled to be held in November.

 Meanwhile, the IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC).
