Covid – Uganda: 3,378 have succumbed, over 160 admitted

Uganda’s cumulative recoveries stand at 98,839 – according to the Ministry of Health data.


Lira – January 13 2022: Uganda has tested a total of 2,244,422 people for Covid-19 and of these, only 156,637 are positive, the latest figures from the Ministry of Health show.

The pandemic has claimed the lives of 3,378. Eight new deaths are from the results released on January 13.

A total of 591 new infections were registered on January 11. The current test positivity rate (TPR) stands at 8.2 per cent.

Cumulative recoveries stand at 98,839 – with 178 patients still admitted to different health facilities across the country.

 Since Uganda started its first mass vaccination campaign almost a year ago, 12,220,106 vaccines doses have been given.

According to the Ministry of Health new data, over 20 districts including cities and towns recorded infections.

Out of the 591 new cases, Kampala tops with 318, Mbarara 39, Kiruhura 37, Wakiso 83, Kabale 17, Kyotera 17, Soroti 11, Arua 8, Mbale 6, Adjumani 7, Luweero 5, Moroto, 4 and Bulambuli, 3.

Others are Jinja 4, Hoima 3, Kikuube 3, Busia 3, Gulu 3, Kalungu 2, Kiryandongo, 2, Kapchorwa 2, Mukono 1, Bugiri 1, Kabarole, and Amuru 8.

Three (3) truckers from Kisoro 1, Tororo 1 and Amuru 1 tested positive.
