The president, alongside First Lady, Janet Kataha Museveni were both vaccinated on March 27, 2021, seventeen days after the official launch by the Ministry of Health.
Lira – 16, April 2021: Addressing the country from National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi district on Friday evening, president Museveni said until Uganda reaches her Covid-19 vaccination threshold (80%), bars, beaches and cinema halls would stay closed.
Gen. Museveni who’s in Kyankwanzi for NRM MPs elect, and opposition leaning NRM MPs ideology training, urged Ugandans to embrace Covid-19 vaccination.
Now at 76 years old, Gen. Museveni, in power since 1986, said Ugandan scientists are working on the vaccine, adding that soon it will be tried on human beings.

Speaking Friday, he said bars and beaches are places were drunkards can spread virus – advising musicians to embrace technology and conduct shows online.
“God is everywhere, not in the Church, Mosque. Here where I am under tent, God is here and I can pray and he will listen to me,” he said, following request by Muslims to government to allow them pray to Allah during this Holy month from mosques.
He also announced stay of curfew from 9pm to 5:30am, everyday.
More than 190,000 Ugandans have so far been vaccinated for Covid-19 with more 5million dozes expected to arrive in the country in coming weeks.
