Sheema – August 5, 2020: The war that erupted between the Minister for Science Technology and Innovations Mr Elioda Tumwesigye and his political rival Dickson Kateshwumbwa is not yet over.

The war emanated after the former URA head of customs, Kateswumbwa dragged the NRM chairman for Sheema Municipality, Mr Bangirana to the NRM Secretary General Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba accusing him of favouring Minister Elioda Tumwesigye against other contenders in the race for the new political seat, Sheema municipality.

According to the letter dated 03, 08 2020 and addressed to the NRM Secretary General, the applicant is seeking her intervention into the matter.

Through his lawyers of Mujurizi Arinaitwe & Byamukama and Co Advocates, Kateshwumbwa wants the issue to be addressed before going to the elections.

“…Rule 4 (4) of the NRM party constitution on prohibited conduct is to the effect that a member or a leader of the NRM shall not practice favouritism or nepotism by giving preferential treatment for any personal advantage or gain for himself or herself or that of his or her relation, friend or agent, ethnic grouping or area of origin…..” reads part of the letter.

Last week, NRM leaders from Sheema Municipality while at Chrika endorsed Minister Elioda Tumwesigye, the current Sheema municipality MP to be their candidate in the forthcoming NRM primary elections and general elections of 2021.

The hot Sheema municipality MP seat has attracted a number of people including David Kamukama, Dickson Kateshwumbwa and Elioda Tumwesigye.

However, when contacted, Sipiriano Bangirana said it was not him as a person but the whole NRM committee of Sheema municipality who endorsed Minister.

He said that the committee based their decision on what Elioda has done for the people of Sheema. “The very reason why the members pronounced themselves on the same,” he added.

“By the way Kateshwumbwa and the group must know that it was not me as a person but the whole NRM committee for Sheema municipality, there is no personal bias as they are claiming,” he further told this publication.
