The rejected proposals were tabled by the NRM Secretariat officials. It demanded that a nomination fee for NRM Parliamentary candidates be pushed to shs5m to allow the party to consider providing radio stations for all her candidates.
Soon, NRM national vice-chairman for northern Uganda, Hon Sam Engola who’s also the Lira district NRM party chairman suggested it be increased to shs10million.
According to sources who spoke to TND News, Mr Engola further suggested that UNEB certification be removed as a requirement for NRM primary polls.
“President Museveni rejected all these suggestions,” a source says.
Sam Engola was the Erute South MP before losing his seat in the 2016 general elections to UPC’s Jonathan Odur.
