Before Uganda confirmed a single coronavirus case, prices of hand sanitizers had risen. In some shops in Kampala, a small bottle was being sold at shs7,000 from shs5,000.
During one of its weekly press conferences in Kampala last month, UPC party said some Ugandan companies and investors were amassing illicit wealth from coronavirus by increasing the price of the sanitizer.

Soon, President Museveni advised Ugandans to use ordinary bar soap and water, regularly to fight coronavirus.
