Lira Currency Technical Centre opens next week – Central Bank

Lira – A circular from the Governor Bank of Uganda dated 22nd January 2020 to all commercial banks chief executive officers indicate when the long awaited currency centre in Lira will start.

Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile – who’s the Governor in his circular also copied all members of Uganda bankers association, wrote:

“As you are aware, Stanbic Bank premises were handed over to Bank of Uganda [BoU] on December 6, 2019 and subsequent works were carried out by BoU. Following the completion of these works, Lira Currency Technical Centre is ready for operationalization.”

“This is, therefore, to inform you that commencement of operations of Lira Currency Technical Centre is scheduled for January 27, 2020.”
