Lira to host 2nd IPOD Summit 2019

Lira Municipality – Northern Uganda will host the second edition of Inter Party Organization for Dialogue [IPOD] Summit.

The decision to select Lira as host, read thus: “The second IPOD Summit of leaders will take place in Northern Uganda district of Lira on the 15th May, 2019. The choice of the venue has been informed by the need to increase awareness of the country on the need of IPOD,” reads part of the press statement issued on Wednesday.

Key issues for discussion will includes; improvement of public order management, reforms to the current public funding modalities for political parties, among others.

IPOD is a coalition of key political parties in Uganda who are working towards having not only democratic elections, but readjustments to some of the existing laws.

Democratic Party President, Norbert Mao is the current IPOD chairman, having taken over from UPC party President who also doubles as the Lira Municipality MP, Jimmy Akena.
