Two people whose names have been withheld to help police complete investigations of drug thefts have been dragged to Mbale High Court for trial.
Dr. Emmanuel Tugaineyo – the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital administrator has revealed.
Mr. Tugaineyo says as Mbale regional referral hospital, they have decided to battle drug theft in Courts of Law.
So far, he says: “Two people whose names shall be withheld for further investigation have a case to answer in courts of law over drug theft.”
Dr. Tugaineyo also says that this follows continuous complains of drug stock out in government facilities, with rumors of doctors stealing government drugs and re-stocking them in their private clinics for patients to buy, expensively.
According to Tugaineyo, with the exception of two cases before court, they are still experiencing high patients’ turn-up from Eastern region. There is very little drugs for them, he added.
