The 4th Division Army Commander, Brig Emanuel Kanyesigye has ordered for the arrest of a UPDF officer attached to the 4th division in Gulu for shooting to death three yet to be identified revelers in the outskirts of Gulu town.
Major Telesphor Turyamumanya, the 4th Division army spokesperson identifies the soldier as Lance Corporal Odaga Geoffrey.
According to Major Turyamumanya, Odaga used his gun to shoot and later killed three people in a bar at Kabedopong trading center following a misunderstanding over a woman.
He says the soldier is currently being detained at 4th division head quarters and his gun retrieved and handed over to an investigation team.
He added that team of investigators are both the UPDF and the police from Gulu central police station.
The army spokesperson also observes that, upon investigation, Odaga shall be charged with misuse of fire arm and unlawful shooting.
Aswa region police spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema, too, confirmed the incident saying investigations are already ongoing.
Recently, a UPDF officer attached to the Gulu 4th division army barracks was also arrested for shooting a local of Apaa during an eviction exercise by Ugandan security agencies.
