Rest In Peace! Uganda Pastor Beats Son To Death For Attending Primary Seven Leavers’ Party

Police in Kamuli District are hunting for a 38-year-old pastor accused of beating his 10-year-old son to death after the young boy attended a Primary Seven leavers’ party at a nearby school. The tragic incident has left residents struggling to understand how a school celebration could end in such heartbreaking circumstances.

The suspect has been identified as Robert Muwanguzi, a pastor at Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness. He reportedly fled after the incident, leaving behind his 30-year-old wife, Allen Kwagala, who has since been arrested by police.

The deceased, Michael Tubone, was a Primary Four pupil at Lulyambuzi Primary School. According to police, his parents became angry after discovering that he had attended an overnight leavers’ party, which they reportedly believed involved activities that went against their religious beliefs.

Busoga North Region Police spokesperson Samson Lubega said the incident happened on Sunday morning when the parents questioned their son about where he had spent the night. Information gathered from residents indicates that the boy was found in a toilet and asked to explain why he had attended the party without their approval.

Police investigations indicate that the parents allegedly subjected the young boy to severe beatings after he failed to give an explanation they considered satisfactory. He was reportedly punched and kicked, including in the lower abdomen, before eventually collapsing.

His parents reportedly rushed him to Lulyambuzi Health Centre III after realising that his condition had deteriorated. However, medical workers pronounced him dead on arrival, leaving his family facing the devastating loss of their young child.

Police say Muwanguzi disappeared after realising that his son had died and is now being pursued. His wife, Kwagala, was arrested and detained at Kamuli Central Police Station as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The tragic death has raised serious concerns about child protection and the use of violence as a form of discipline. Authorities are continuing with investigations as police search for the pastor to answer allegations connected to the death of his 10-year-old son.
