Pakistan Association Uganda in Lira City has extended its humanitarian service to promote the local education system.
This latest gesture is aimed at addressing hunger among learners, a challenge that can lead to school dropouts and poor academic performance.
Sardar Muhammad Ateeq Nawaz, President of the Association, made this statement on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Olilo Primary School.
The school is located in Itek sub-county, Erute South, Lira district. During the event, he handed over a number of essential food items to over 547 learners.
Prolonged drought and poor harvests have left many homes struggling to provide food for their children, contributing to hunger among school learners and making it difficult for them to concentrate and perform well academically.
President Ateeq added that hunger remains one of the biggest challenges in many homes and is affecting the quality of education in many schools.
He urged parents and other stakeholders to join hands to ensure that their children have access to meals while at school during lunchtime.
“As a gesture of encouragement and support, we have donated essential food items such as sugar, milk, cooking oil, beans, posho, bread, rice, and other necessities to support the learners,” he added.

The headteacher Moses Akwar, appreciated the Association for their support, describing the donation as timely and important in improving the welfare of learners.
Akwar said the food items would help motivate pupils, particularly those in Primary Seven who are sitting for their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), to remain focused on their studies.
He also used the platform to appreciate MP Sam Engola for fulfilling his commitment to supporting the school, revealing that the legislator had constructed one classroom block at Olilo Primary School and provided approximately shs54.8 million towards school development.
