Hoima Central Police Station (CPS) is holding three men after they were caught transporting two suspected stolen cows.
The three, whose identities remain unrevealed, were intercepted by the Police Flying Squad of the Albertine Region together with the Territorial Police of Hoima City.
They were arrested along Hoima-Kagadi Road on Thursday morning in a Noah vehicle with registration number UA 159A.
Two suspected stolen cows were recovered from the three suspects.
The vehicle, as of 2pm on Thursday, was still parked at the Albertine South Regional Police offices in Kijungu, Hoima City.
Albertine South Region Police PRO, SP Julius Allan Hakiza, explained that using intelligence from the public, they managed to intercept the vehicle in Busiisi cell, Hoima City.
“Three were found with a Noah vehicle parked along the roadside in Busiisi. So, during our security checking, we found them carrying two cows – a black one and a brown one,” Hakiza said.
Hakiza, however, appreciated the public for the good cooperation with the police, saying it is what led to the arrest of the suspects.
Police detectives were preparing to take the suspects to the crime scene for reconstruction and further interrogation.
“The scene will help us to also understand more about these cattle thieves because they look to have been stealing cattle from different parts of the region,” PRO Hakiza stated.
