First, we start with the election of Kyoga County Member of Parliament Collins Angwech as chairperson of the Amolatar district roads committee.

Angwech was elected during the committee’s first meeting, chaired by Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Rodha Oroma.

She defeated Amolatar LC5 chairperson Morish Ogwal Omara by four votes. Ogwal got three.

Angwech will serve a two-and-a-half-year term, taking over from former LC5 chairperson Geoffrey Ocen, who currently represents Kyoga County North in Parliament.

In her maiden speech, Angwech thanked committee members for entrusting her with the leadership position and called for unity and cooperation in fulfilling the committee’s mandate.

She urged members to work together to improve the development, maintenance and management of road networks across the district.

The new committee approved ten major road projects scheduled for implementation in the 2026/2027 financial year.

The committee comprises the three Members of Parliament representing Amolatar district, the LC5 chairperson, secretary for works and technical services, district engineer and the Chief Administrative Officer.

The approved road projects include Nabweyo–Awikori Road, Tangala–Ojul Road, Angwenonywal–Kampala Landing Site Road, and Odyak–Rwenzogi–Alelango Road.

Others are Abolonyero–Awikori Road, Amolatar District Headquarters Boundary Road, Acengreny Booster–Atabo–Ojul Road, Adagani–Aninolal Primary School–Anoga Road and Aromi–Abarikori Road.

Amolatar district’s communication officer, Andrew Kizito Ogwang, says the district is expected to commence implementation of the road projects with a groundbreaking ceremony for the Aromi–Abarikori Road on October 27, 2026.
