Ugandan singer Weasel Manizo has reportedly warned fellow musician Kid Fox to respect veteran singer and politician Bobi Wine, arguing that the music industry and the lives of its established stars have changed significantly over the years.

Weasel, who is one half of the legendary Goodlyfe duo, reportedly directed his remarks at Kid Fox while discussing the importance of respecting older and more established figures in Uganda’s entertainment industry.

According to Weasel, musicians who have spent years building their careers should not be treated in the same way as upcoming artists who are still trying to establish themselves. He urged Kid Fox to recognise the contribution of senior musicians to the industry.

“Things have changed,” Weasel is quoted as saying, pointing to the changing lifestyles of successful musicians and entertainers in Uganda.

The singer reportedly used the success of some established artists to demonstrate how much the entertainment industry has developed. He mentioned expensive vehicles and luxurious homes as examples of the progress made by musicians who have worked for years.

“People are driving G-Wagons and sleeping in mansions,” Weasel reportedly said, highlighting the wealth and lifestyles that some musicians have achieved through their careers.

Weasel also referred to his own journey, saying that he had experienced difficult times before eventually achieving financial success. He reportedly reminded Kid Fox that there was a time when he was struggling financially but that his circumstances have since changed.

“Even I, Weasel, who you left broke, now have a V8 and a mansion,” he reportedly said, using his personal experience to emphasise the transformation that can take place during a long music career.

The singer then turned his attention to Bobi Wine, insisting that the former musician-turned-politician deserves respect because of his contribution to Uganda’s entertainment industry and his long-standing position among prominent Ugandan artists.

Weasel reportedly told Kid Fox that Bobi Wine should not be treated like an ordinary or upcoming musician. His comments appeared to be a reminder of the influence and history associated with Bobi Wine’s career.

“If you don’t know Bobi Wine, then you don’t know your mum,” Weasel reportedly said, using a strong expression to underline how well-known he believes Bobi Wine is within Uganda’s music industry.

He further urged Kid Fox to respect those who came before him. According to Weasel, younger musicians should recognise the role played by established artists in creating opportunities and shaping the entertainment industry.

“Respect your elders,” Weasel reportedly told Kid Fox, stressing the importance of humility and acknowledging senior figures.

The comments have attracted attention because both Weasel and Bobi Wine have played major roles in Uganda’s music history. Bobi Wine became one of the country’s most influential musicians before moving deeper into politics, while Weasel rose to fame as part of Goodlyfe with the late Mowzey Radio.

The Goodlyfe duo became one of Uganda’s most successful musical acts, producing numerous popular songs and building a large following across Uganda and beyond. Weasel has continued his music career following the death of his longtime musical partner.

Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also built a major following through music before becoming a political figure. His transition from entertainment to politics made him one of the most prominent personalities in Uganda’s public life.
