Members of the Otikokin clan based in Lira Central, Lira City East Division have installed their new clan leader (Rwot) Emmanuel Owii in a colorful and well-attended ceremony held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Hotel Komar Uhuru Bar in Lira City.
The event attracted elders, youth representatives, women leaders, and invited guests from within and outside the clan, all gathered to witness the formal transition of leadership.
Traditional blessings, speeches, and cultural expressions marked the occasion, reflecting the clan’s strong commitment to preserving its heritage while embracing modern leadership structures.
Emmanuel Owii was installed alongside other clan officials who will work with him in leading and serving members of the Otikokin clan.
Among those appointed to key leadership positions are Grace Ongom, who will serve as his vice and spokesperson, and treasurer Harriet Alele, who will oversee the clan’s financial matters, among others, entrusted with various responsibilities aimed at strengthening clan administration and coordination.

Speaking shortly after his installation, the new clan leader called for peace, unity, and cooperation among members of the Otikokin clan, saying these values are essential for the development, stability, and long-term wellbeing of the community.
He emphasised that without unity, it would be difficult for the clan to achieve meaningful progress in both social and economic aspects.
Emmanuel urged clan members to remain united and to support one another in times of need, noting that internal divisions, misunderstandings, and conflicts could undermine ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of families within the clan.
Rwot encouraged open dialogue and reconciliation as tools for resolving disputes and strengthening relationships among members.

He also made a special appeal to young girls within the clan to be protective of themselves, uphold good morals, and maintain self-respect in their daily lives.
According to the Rwot, young people, especially girls, have a critical role to play in preserving the dignity, values, and good name of the Otikokin clan, as well as contributing positively to the wider society.

The new clan leader further called for the establishment and expansion of development projects targeting the youth, saying such initiatives would help keep young people engaged in productive activities and reduce idleness, unemployment, and vulnerability to negative influences.
“Skills development, vocational training, and entrepreneurship programs will be key areas of focus under my leadership,” he said, promising to create sustainable opportunities for the youth through different development projects would not only improve their livelihoods but also contribute significantly to the overall development and transformation of the clan.
Owii added that empowering young people economically would help build a stronger and more self-reliant community in the long run.
He also encouraged members of the Otikokin clan to actively support one another’s businesses by buying from, promoting, and investing in enterprises owned by fellow clan members.
Owii further noted that strengthening local businesses within the clan would play a key role in driving economic growth, improving household livelihoods, and reducing poverty levels among members.
He urged entrepreneurs within the clan to maintain quality, trust, and integrity in their business dealings to attract wider support.
The swearing-in ceremony brought together a large number of Otikokin clan members in Lira City, who witnessed the transition to the new leadership with optimism and renewed hope.
Many expressed expectations for greater unity, stronger cultural identity, and accelerated development under the new administration, as the clan embarked on a new chapter of leadership.
