The territorial police in Amolatar district early this week arrested four suspects linked to a criminal gang terrorising the area.

The successful intelligence-led operation leading to their arrest took place in the early hours of July 2, 2026.

Security forces launched a targeted sweep between 1:00 am and 4:00 am near the Golden Gas petrol station. This location sits in Inomo Cell, Inomo Ward within Amolatar town council.

According to a formal statement by SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police PRO, the crackdown directly responds to a rise in local property crimes.

The apprehended individuals are strongly suspected of orchestrating a string of house break-ins, burglaries, and thefts throughout the town council.

John Mafabi, the District Police Commander (DPC) identified the four young men in captivity as Steven Okullo, 20, a resident of Inomo Cell, Inomo Ward, Amolatar town council, Brian Aluli, 19, a resident of Inomo Cell, Inomo Ward, Amolatar town council.

Others are Gerald Obura, 24, a student at Amolatar Secondary School, residing in Apalipe Cell, Apalipe Ward and Paul Eling, 25, residing in Apalipe Cell, Apalipe Ward, but originally from Dokolo.

All four suspects are currently detained at the local station, where investigators are actively recording their statements.

This raid marks the third major “disruptive operation” executed by police in Amolatar district within the past month.

Law enforcement officials emphasised that these proactive, intelligence-driven operations will persist indefinitely.

The ongoing campaign aims to dismantle local criminal networks, suppress illegal activities, and guarantee long-term safety for the business community and residents alike.

Meanwhile, the headteacher of Amolatar Secondary School Patrick Odur Obia said a student arrested during the operation doesn’t study at his school.
