The North Kyoga regional police, particularly in Dokolo district, are investigating a case of sudden death registered at Dokolo Central Police Station following the death of D/CPL Galandi Faizal, 41.
He was a resident of Dokolo police barracks.
According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, on April 24, 2026, at around 1:30 pm, a report was received from D/AIP Oculi Tom Robson, a police officer attached to Dokolo CPS, regarding the sudden death Galandi Faizal.
SP Okema added that concern arose after the deceased was not seen throughout the morning hours and did not respond from his room.
The reporter, together with DC Okello Bonny, proceeded to the room and, upon forcefully gaining entry, discovered his lifeless body lying with his face down.
The matter was immediately reported and managed accordingly. A death enquiry case was registered. The scene was visited and documented, and the body was conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Police noted that statements have since been recorded from relevant witnesses to support ongoing investigations.
Okema added that preliminary findings show the deceased had been battling an eye-related illness alongside other health complications and had been receiving treatment under the Police Directorate of Health Services at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
“Inquiries are ongoing, and further updates will be provided in due course. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” he added.
