Parents have been urged to stop child neglect, child labour, and other forms of child abuse.
Addressing journalists last month at Dokolo district headquarters, Susan Alum Odit, Program Officer at LACCODEF said they registered numerous cases of child negligence, sexual violence, child labour and forms of child abuse whichares against the constitution of Uganda.
Alum urged parents to stop any form of child abuse which can hinder their normal growth and development in society.
She revealed that they have come up with a number of interventions to address the challenges such as awareness creation in various communities, forming child clubs at school, and involving other stakeholders.
Alum further threatened to arrest any parents found neglecting their roles and responsibilities for their children.
She, however, appealed to children to be good listeners and respectful to their parents to get blessings.
In Lango sub-region, child marriage is prevalent in Oyam district. The prevalence rate for girls married before the age of 18 is 47% in Lango, according to UNICEF.
