More than 400 NRM members from Lira City West Division have pledged to mobilize voters for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and incumbent Lira City Woman Member of Parliament, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero
Dr Aceng also serves as the Minister of Health.
This commitment was made on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Lipton Palace Hotel in Lira City during an engagement meeting with NRM leaders as they prepared for voter mobilization efforts for President Museveni and Dr Aceng, who was described as a hard-working MP.
While addressing the leaders, the Lira City West Division NRM Chairperson, Tonny Olipa also known as Lipton, declared that the division will deliver over 99% of its votes for Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero and President Yoweri Museveni, alongside all other NRM flag bearers for divisional positions, including the mayor and councilors.
Chairperson Olipa called for unity, peace, and togetherness on election day to ensure victory for all the NRM candidates. He added that Lira City West Division has over 68,000 voters and expressed confidence that both Dr Aceng and President Museveni will win the election by a large margin.
Additionally, Olipa stated that Lira City West Division is ready to protect the party’s gains, cautioning against what he described as wrong elements attempting to undermine NRM flag bearers such as Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, Sam Atul, and Eddy Morris Ogweng, among others.
“Let us continue advocating for voters to support Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero,” he urged.
“We have now successfully campaigned for Minister Amongi in Lira City,” stated Chairperson Olipa, who also promised to celebrate the impending victory and success of Dr Jane Ruth Aceng.
Joseph Olet Magezi told the meeting that in his 30 years of voting, he has witnessed two particularly challenging elections: the Constituent Assembly election and the upcoming 2026 general election.
Olet urged the youth of Lira City, especially those aged 25, to unite in this election to achieve their desired outcomes.
Meanwhile, Tonny Oyera, the Local Council One chairperson of Te-dam Cell in Ipito Aweno, Ipito Gweno, Lira City West Division, pledged to provide adequate security on election day to ensure everyone has the opportunity to vote for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero.
Solomon Along, the youth chairperson for Lira City West Division, said all youths are now moving across the city to campaign for all NRM flag bearers, starting with President Yoweri Museveni, followed by Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, among others.
