The territorial Police in Kole district have arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing Parish Development Model (PDM) money worth shs50 million.

Police say the suspects were arrested from Okwor village, Ayer sub-county, Kole.

Their crime was reported to police on June 18, 2025, by Maj. Aldo Alele Onyango, 52, Kole district’s Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Officer.

North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the arrest of suspects Olila Martine and Omodi Denis.

According to SP Okema, the suspects allegedly withdrew shs50 million from a bank account on June 2, 2025. The money was intended for PDM beneficiaries in Ayer sub-county, Okwor village.

They then disappeared with the money alongside other accomplices still at large.

Beneficiaries received mobile notifications confirming payment, but no funds were disbursed. A General Enquiry File (GEF) was opened at Kole Central Police Station (CPS) to investigate the theft.

SP Okema, in a statement on Thursday, said the police recorded statements from all affected beneficiaries.

Two suspects are in custody assisting with the investigation, he added. During the arrest of Olila Martine, Police recovered shs21 million in cash.

“Efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing, and a case file is being compiled for submission to the Resident State Attorney (RSA).”

“Preliminary findings indicate the suspects added new beneficiary names to replace original PDM members,” stated Okema, revealing that police were already investigating this manipulation of records as part of the case.

“The police remain committed to taking decisive action against those sabotaging government programs,” Okema emphasized, and pledged the Force would leave no stone unturned.
