Northern Gateway Soccer Club’s dream of promotion to the FUFA Big League ended on Sunday, June 8 after a painful loss.
The Galatians lost 1-0 to Young Elephant Academy in a regional match. The two top teams sit in the Elephants and Rhino groups, respectively.
Last year, Northern Gateway were eliminated in the semi-finals by Paidha Black Angels, losing on aggregate to the team led by head coach Anthony Odongo and assistant Ojok Alito.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Young Elephant Academy won the northern regional championship after scoring the only penalty goal in the second half.

The victory sends them to the Big League next season.
Northern Gateway SC’s Jacob Okabo missed consecutive penalties after a Young Elephant defender folded the striker in the penalty area.
Young Elephant Academy FC had a dormant campaign in the Elephant group, scoring 55 points in 22 matches.
This is the club’s first appearance at this stage, and the team is excited about making history by being promoted to the Fufa Big League.
They will face Nebbi Central FC, the West Nile Regional champions, who defeated Oramachaku FC 3-0 in a penalty shootout.
