Amolatar | The National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) of Uganda has begun the renewal process for National Identification Cards (IDCs) in Amolatar District.
The exercise is being carried out nationwide. It began in the Amolatar district on May 27, 2025, with an event at the district headquarters.
Resident District Commissioner Okello Francis Odoki Rwotlonyo emphasized the significance of the exercise, urging residents to actively participate and fully engage in the renewal process.
During his address, RDC Rwotlonyo stated that the program will take three months to complete, beginning at the district level and progressing through sub-counties, parishes, and finally village levels.
This tiered approach is intended to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to participate in this critical initiative.
“The National Identity Card is not just a piece of identification; it is a gateway to accessing various government programs and services,” the RDC said.
“Those who do not possess one will miss out on these essential benefits,” Rwotlonyo stated, reinforcing the card’s significance for local citizens.
Amolatar district NIRA officer Gimano Xavior Francis provided crucial information regarding the documentation required for the renewal process.
He stated that those wishing to renew or register must present a photocopy of their current National Identity Card. Xavior advised those looking to change their information or replace lost cards to be patient while they await further instructions.
“The first three months will be dedicated solely to renewing identity cards and registering new applicants. Individuals who have lost their identity cards but still retain a photocopy can proceed with the renewal process immediately,” he clarified.
This initiative is a critical step toward improving identification and ensuring that all Amolatar residents are included in national programs, resulting in increased community participation and access to critical services.
Residents are encouraged to participate actively in this process as it unfolds across the district over the coming months.
