“Oyam, it’s time for change and true leadership” – Jane Frances Acilo

The race for the next woman MP of Oyam district has taken shape, with potential NRM party flagbearer Jane Frances Acilo now eyeing the 2026 general elections.

Acilo, a staunch commercial farmer,  founder and director of Abja farms in Myene sub-county, Oyam South, has recently reached out to hundreds of thousands of supporters.

Throughout her visits and engagements with her supporters, she has advocated for wealth creation, commercial agriculture, education, and improved access roads throughout the district.

She is distributing improved maize seeds to Oyam farmers in order to increase household income and ensure that everyone has enough money to meet their basic needs.

Her goal is to distribute 15,000 kilograms of Naseco maize seeds to all 16 sub-counties, including town councils in Oyam.

Acilo, optimistic about ending the political term of incumbent woman MP Santa Alum Ogwang, has stated, “It is time for change—time to bring in new energy, fresh ideas, and leadership that truly serves the people.”

With the support and the strength of the NRM, she added, “We will build a prosperous, united, and food-secure Oyam.”

“Oyam, it’s our time,” she emphasised. Acilo has promised a new style of leadership with results.

She has also promised the people of Oyam that she will listen to them, support their growth, and lead them collectively, regardless of their political or religious affiliations.

In January 2025, NRM party leaders and members in Acaba sub-county and Oyam town council endorsed Jane Frances Acilo for the party flag at a consultative meeting held in Abia cell, Oyam town council.

Peter Ebong, one of the local party leaders said “the endorsement is now complete,” calling for “immediate focus on coordination between local and central party leadership.”

Dorothy Key Achola of Ajuri cell, Eastern ward, Oyam town council, urged Acilo to address the farmers’ challenges through a well coordinated manifesto once she’s elected the woman MP in 2026.
