Lira | Yendo School of Catering and Hotel Management, a leading vocational training institution in the Lango sub-region, is set to hold its 14th graduation ceremony, marking yet another milestone in its 20-year history of excellence.
Since its inception in 2005, the school has trained over 3,000 students and continues to make significant strides in preparing young people for long-term careers in catering and hotel management.
The school’s Executive Director, Moses Eyen, announced the upcoming graduation during a press briefing at his office in Central Park Cell, Ireda Ward, Lira City East Division.
“We are proud to witness the 14th graduation of our students, who have completed their Certificate in Non-Formal Level One and Two in Hotel Management,” Eyen stated on Thursday.
“This is a testament to our commitment to providing quality vocational education that meets both national and international standards.”
The school has built a reputation for excellence in the region, and it is now preparing to welcome new students for the 2025 academic year. Eyen emphasized that Yendo School welcomes students at all levels who want to excel in the hospitality industry.
“We are enrolling for the 2025 academic year and encourage both girls and boys to join us. Our training is affordable, and we are dedicated to empowering young people with skills that will enable them to thrive in the global hospitality sector,” he added.
The institution prides itself on its hands-on training approach, which prepares students to work in any hotel around the world.
According to Yendo School’s Principal, Opolo Ambrose, the institution’s graduates have a 100% employment rate. “We are proud to say that none of our over 3,000 alumni are unemployed. In fact, 95% of them are currently working in major hotels across Uganda,” Ambrose revealed.
The school’s success is attributed to its comprehensive curriculum, which incorporates both national and international training standards. Students are taught about various aspects of hotel management, such as food preparation, customer service, and hygiene.
“Good hygiene is the backbone of any successful catering or hospitality business. At Yendo, we instill this value in our students from day one,” Opolo added.

The Yendo School story is one of passion and dedication. Moses Eyen founded the institution in 2005 as a small initiative aimed at providing young people with practical skills. Before going into hospitality education, Eyen was a successful farmer who grew potatoes on a large scale.
However, his passion for education and hospitality led him to establish Yendo School. “I wanted to create a platform where young people could acquire skills that would enable them to build sustainable careers. Today, I am proud to see the impact we have made,” Eyen shared.
The call for vocational training comes at a time when many young people in Uganda are struggling to find employment despite holding academic qualifications. Yendo School believes that vocational skills offer a practical solution to this challenge.
“Vocational training equips students with the skills needed to thrive in the real world. It empowers them to start their own businesses or secure meaningful employment,” Eyen explained.
As Yendo School prepares to celebrate its 14th graduation, the institution remains committed to its mission of transforming lives through vocational education. With its impressive track record and dedication to excellence, Yendo School continues to be a shining example of how vocational training can bridge the gap between education and employment.
Prospective students are encouraged to take advantage of the current enrollment for the 2025 academic year.
Yendo School provides affordable training programs for students of all levels, with a focus on equipping them with the skills required to succeed in the hospitality industry.
