NRM’s Jane Acilo’s main events of the week

Oyam

Myene, Oyam | Saturday was a significant day for Jane Frances Acilo, who has expressed interest in Oyam district woman MP seat.

Jane is currently preparing for the NRM party primary poll and main elections in 2026.

Acilo, who describes herself as a “community-centered leader,” was in Arwotonyo village, Myene sub-county, on Saturday, where she interacted with residents and oversaw major borehole repair efforts.

She promised to provide more support to her people and ensure that all communities have access to clean water.

Speaking to her upcoming electorate, she promised to improve sanitation by implementing a system that promotes access to toilets and sanitation (WASH) facilities.

Her focus is on rural areas, some of which still practice open defecation.

Concerning water source protection, she will collaborate with the water user committee to create protected areas around water sources to prevent pollution from agricultural runoff.

“I will implement land use planning to manage activities that may have an impact on water quality,” she told her community.

She is focusing on water conservation to promote water-saving technologies and practices in homes.

In addition, Jane intends to implement rainwater harvesting systems throughout Oyam to supplement water supplies, allowing farmers to practice “greenhouse farming” in the face of rising climate change impacts.

She is committed to engaging communities and educating them on the importance of hygiene and hand washing practices. She will accomplish this by raising awareness about water conservation and pollution prevention, as well as encouraging community participation in water management decisions.

Her focus is also on governance and policy. According to her, she will create and enforce regulations to manage water quality standards and protect water sources, invest in infrastructure development to improve water access and delivery systems, and strengthen water management institutions and governance structures.

Last month, Jane Acilo listed education, roads, and agriculture as her top priorities in a speech to NRM leaders and stakeholders. She has since added WASH (water and sanitation).
