Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) recently hosted 400 Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (JNCOs) on a study tour at its Kiwatule headquarters.
These officers, who are currently enrolled in a four-month leadership course at Hima Training School in Kasese district, discussed financial management and investment strategies.
Lt Col Wesley Aine, WSACCO’s Head of Human Resource and Administration, standing in for CEO Col Joseph Freddy Onata, emphasized the cooperative’s critical role in assisting officers with their financial well-being.
He reaffirmed WSACCO’s mission to increase membership, provide quality financial services, and positively impact members’ lives during and after service.
Lt Col Frank Kaweru, Commandant of Hima Training School, expressed confidence that the JNCOs would learn practical financial management skills during their visit.
“I am confident that this study tour will leave you with a greater understanding of enterprise selection and effective loan use to improve your welfare and support Wazalendo’s growth,” he stated.
The cooperative’s outstanding expansion was emphasized by WSACCO’s Head of Operations, Major Julius Niragire, who stated that by October 31, 2024, there were over 112,106 members, with substantial contributions to share capital, deposits, assets, and loan portfolios.
He urged members to develop consistent saving habits and to use loans wisely in order to sustain this growth.
Maj David Mbire, Head of Operations at Wazalendo Investments Limited (WIL), provided insight into WIL’s investment projects, which include real estate and agriculture, noting that profits from these ventures would result in dividends and affordable housing for members.
