Excitement in Kole South as MP Okot repairs 7 boreholes 

Kole |Excitement is full in Kole South, where Northern Youth MP Boniface Okot has successfully overseen the repair of over seven boreholes in just a month.

On Thursday, October 24, 2024, more than 1,500 residents of Tecambia cell in Bala town council’s Western Ward B thanked MP Okot for alleviating their seven-month-long plight of consuming contaminated water alongside animals.

MP Okot, who represents the Northern Youth in the 11th Parliament, has announced the allocation of shs10 million to seven community projects in B Cell, Western Ward, Bala town council.

This funding, he said, is intended to support local development initiatives.

Okot, who has expressed interest to contest for Kole South MP seat in 2026, emphasized the importance of community participation, revealing that he has set aside an additional shs10 million for various projects in the region, particularly in Kole.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the NRM party and promised to continue supporting development initiatives in Kole South as the 2026 elections approached.

The MP has pledged to ensure that the allocated funds are used effectively for the benefit of the community.

Dominic Patrick Akor, the MP’s political assistant, stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in resource allocation. He stated that the community has taken an active role in identifying priority projects, which include infrastructure improvements and social services.

Akor emphasized the importance of local leaders working together to effectively address community needs. He also encouraged residents to participate in the upcoming elections and support NRM candidates to ensure that their concerns and suggestions are adequately addressed.

The ongoing initiatives spearheaded by MP Okot and local leaders aim to promote development and improve living conditions in Bala town council, with a focus on community-driven projects.

Following the completion of the borehole project, Mike Tenga, chairperson of the local council for the Cambia B Cell, thanked Okot for his assistance after experiencing a water crisis for over seven months due to a severe shortage.

He stated that the community has been dealing with water scarcity since early March of this year, which resulted from the failure of a water point that served over 1,500 residents in his area.

Tenga urged other leaders to follow MP Okot’s proactive approach to addressing the community’s needs.

Lillian Auma, a local resident, expressed her concerns about the Member of Parliament’s involvement, highlighting the community’s challenges, particularly those related to local governance and resource distribution.

She stressed the need for accountability and transparency in the MP’s actions, as residents eagerly await improvements in their living conditions.

Winnie, another community member, emphasized the importance of residents working together to address these challenges.

She encouraged the community to remain vigilant and proactive in their search for solutions, as they seek improved representation and support from their elected officials.
