Dokolo | A Reverend Father has rescued pupils of Adwala Central Primary in Dokolo from the possibility of contracting waterborne diseases.
On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, pupils, teachers, and residents of Alabi village, Amunamun parish, Adok sub-county, Dokolo North, were overjoyed to receive a clean source of water.
The water source was courtesy of Rev Father Alfred Okello. Residents and pupils have been sharing unsafe water points with their animals.
Father Okello, who has expressed an interest in the Dokolo North MP seat in 2026, stated, “I cannot see my people dying from drinking unclean water, so I will remain silent because water is life.”
The Catholic priest went on to say that if the community trusts you and you have been saved as a leader, you must work for the betterment of the people who helped you get there.
Jimmy Odongo, LC1 chairman of the village, thanked the Father for addressing the issue of water scarcity that was affecting the students at Adwala Central Primary School.
“So I believe this water will improve the education system in this school.”
Odongo stated that for the past three weeks, residents had been sharing water with their animals. “But starting today, Okello Alfred, Father has rescued us from having to travel long distances in search of water.”

According to Delphine Alum, head teacher of Adwala Central Primary, the school has a total enrollment of 1,453. “I am encouraging other leaders to do exactly what Rev Father Alfred Okello is doing in Dokolo North.”
“We are very excited about this water point. I want you to know that for the past three weeks, we have been running school at a cost by paying some people to bring water and prepare food for our candidates.”
The Father also donated a variety of learning materials to the school to help with education. The materials include boxes of chalk and pens, among others.

She requested that the education team from the local government of the Dokolo district come and take care of any other issues that the Rev Father is unable to handle.
“The school’s biggest challenge is toilets. Out of 11 teaching staff, we are sharing only one toilet.”
Jusphine Ojok, a resident, expressed gratitude to Father Alfred for his efforts in Dokolo North.
“When our barohole had mechanical problems, no leader came in to help us. But for what the Father has done, we will reward him with votes in 2026.”
Since 2023, the Father has given life to 65 boreholes in Dokolo North.
Also a member of the ruling NRM party, Father Okello is laying his foundation to unseat Moses Ogwal Goli of NRM in the forthcoming general election.
