Amolatar | On May 23, 2024, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Amolatar, Francis Okello Odoki Rwotlonyo, handed over a partially completed Arwotcek health centre III to the community.
While handing over, the RDC gave the contractor less than six months to complete the remaining work.
The Ministry of Health awarded the contract to CAT Civil and Water Works Company Limited.
The Arwotcek health centre is being upgraded for shs617,424,255 million.
If CAT does not “fill up small gaps,” RDC Rwotlonyo said, their remaining shs34 million will not be paid.
Rwotlonyo has warned witches and warlocks that sending charms to the health facility will result in arrest.
The vice LC5 chairperson of Amolatar, Sam Peter Onyang, stated that due to public demand, they could not wait long to hand over the facility to the community.

He urged the contractor to fix the remaining problems.
Amolatar’s CAO, Paul Mpiima, praised the work and stated that the district plans to hire health workers in the coming fiscal year.
He announced that the personnel would be sent to all health centres that had been upgraded from II to III in order to provide good service to their patients.
Arwotcek health centre III has received new equipment, including a microscope, fridge, weighing scale, and beds, among others.
CAO Mpiima believes that the equipment will make the work easier.
Kyoga North MP James Olobo Dubai, who also attended the handover, praised the development.
Dubai denied the earlier rumours that he bought off the community members to prevent them from accepting the facility.
The LC3 chairperson of Arwotcek subcounty requested that the district install a solar system at the facility to prevent death due to a power outage.
He also thanked the RDC for transferring the facility to the community who were in dire need.
Some residents spoke with joy.
It will primarily benefit pregnant mothers, Akullu Jolly said, adding that she was pleased to receive the upgraded facility.
Another resident named Teddy Paskweli Onome mentioned that she is expecting. She is excited to give birth at the recently opened maternity ward.
On October 16, 2022, an agreement was reached to upgrade Arwotcek. It was scheduled to be handed over to the community on June 31, 2023.
The government hired the contractor to build a new maternity ward, four-position pit latrines, waste pits, outpatient departments, renovations, and land levelling.
