Gulu health center bosses cautioned against misconducts

By Norine Kazombo

Following the recent arrest of the health center II in-charges, the Gulu acting DHO, Yoweri Idiba, has warned in-charges of government aided health facilities in the district against mishandling of drugs and other office equipment.

While addressing health centre in-charges from the entire health facilities within the district on 8th January, 2019 at the district health board room, Mr. Idiba strongly condemned the act of few in-charges who are behind bars for allegedly stealing government drugs.

He however, stated that they will not stand and cover any health officers who will be caught in such kind of misconduct, adding that such officer shall be handed over to the police and probably taken to courts of law.

Gulu district drugs Inspector, Michael Chankara, also noted that he feels disgusted when testifying against their own.

Mr. Chankara, though, asked the in-charges to always monitor and keep watch of the stores and laboratory department where most of the health center equipment are kept.

Also, Gulu Health Educator, Mr. Williams Onyai, advises health workers to love their job and be contented with the little salaries they get on monthly basis to avoid such kind of temptation.

These statements came just six days after the arrest of the two health center bosses attached to Pukony and Apera health center IIs for allegedly stealing 6 boxes of Coartem drugs.

The pair are to be paraded before court anytime.
