Boda rider robs client of her Infinix and rapes her with force

Ali

Ali Kiwanuka, a 29-year-old boda boda rider who primarily operates in the districts of Iganga, Mayuge, Luuka, Jinja city, Jinja district, and Njeru municipality, has been placed under arrest.

Ali is believed to have targeted female passengers with the malicious intent to rob and rape them.

According to a press release from SP James Mubi, the Kiira region police spokesperson, the incident occurred between May 21, 2024, and May 22, 2024.

Around 8 p.m., the 25-year-old victim paid the suspect Shs. 15,000 for the suspect’s motorbike services at Dunlop in Jinja City while travelling to Buwenge Town Council in the Jinja district.

“When he arrived at an isolated Nile ply forest in Mutai along the Jinja-Kamuli road, the suspect seduced her to gain carnal knowledge but refused sexual advances,” said SP.

He went on to say that the suspect allegedly wrestled her to the ground, tore her knickers, and forced carnal knowledge on her using sharp objects.

Ali later robbed her customer of shs15,000 and an Infinix phone. The phone was found with the suspect during his arrest, as was the motorbike CT 125 registration number UFX 657Z.

“He inserted his Airtel line into the victim’s phone,” PRO Mubi added.

According to SP Mubi, the victim (names withheld) clearly noted the motorcycle’s registration number plate. On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Central Police Station’s CCTV control room used the number plate to trace, identify, and arrest Ali Kiwanuka at his home in Nawanganda Namatoro village, Busede sub county, Jinja district.

“It should be remembered that in the late month of March, 2024, a maid working in Maya – Nsangi Wakiso district was allegedly raped by a boda boda cyclist who was supposed to take her to Kamuli district but ended up diverting the passenger in the sugarcane plantations of Kakira and reportedly and repeatedly raped her, robbed her of ten thousand shillings and chapati of five hundred shillings. The suspect has been remanded,” Mubi remembered.

“The Kiira regional police command strongly cautions boda boda operators against engaging in unlawful criminal activities that result in a breach of public trust,” he added.

SP Mubi has now confirmed that the victim has been offered Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) treatment to rule out the possibility of HIV infection while investigations are ongoing.
