Kampala | Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among will lead a delegation of MPs to inspect the Mandela National Stadium on Monday, April 15.

Popularly known as Namboole, the national stadium is currently being renovated in preparation for, among other things, the 2027 African Cup of Nations.

The engineering branch of the national army, UPDF, is carrying out the work.

During a recent meeting, a Confederation of African Football (CAF) delegation refused to approve the renovation.

The revovation is valued at Shs80b.

Last week, Anita gave the engineers two weeks to complete the work and put into consideration proposal by CAF.

Last week, Peter Ogwang, who is the Minister of State for Sports, announced to Parliament that Pioneer Bus Company had decided to remove their faulty buses from the Mandela parking yard.

According to Ogwang, the bus company will start removing their buses to pave the way for UPDF to mark the parking spots as per CAF requirements.

Uganda will co-host Afcon2027 with Kenya and Tanzania.

Uganda is currently planning to construct two more stadiums for the prestigious tournament.
