Lira | On April 19, team selections to represent Lira City West were held for zones A and B.
Other athletes from the two zones were chosen on April 12 during inter-school competitions.
Tom Okuku is the game teacher (master) at Adyel Primary School. He believes the selected athletes will do well at the National Championship.
“This is what they are preparing for,” he told tndSports.
Adyel won the inter-school competition in Zone A out of ten primary schools.
Adyel was able to produce a total of 6 pupils at national level and were offered sponsorship at secondary schools, said Okulu.
He encourages parents and stakeholders not to prevent their children from participating in any sporting activity.
“Ojwina produced a total of eight pupils who qualified for the inter Zone competition in Group B.
Opio attributed the lower number of participants to the removal of U16s from participation.
The Lira City inter-division match will take place on April 26th, with City West facing off against Lira City East.
Tonny Boniface Okello, game teacher at Anai Primary School in Zone B, stated that the school has five students participating in the competition.
This year’s national athletics championship will be held in Kitgum district in May.
