South Sudan’s Kiir in Uganda for IGAD

Kampala | South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit is in Uganda for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) summit scheduled for Thursday, January 18 at State House in Entebbe. 

Kiir and Somalia’s leader are among those in the country for the same summit.

At Entebbe International Airport, President Kiir was received by Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs, John Mulimba.

He was joined by the Ambassador of South Sudan to Uganda, Simon Juach Deng.

President Kiir will also attend the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit where South Sudan will be admitted as a new member state.

Uganda is hosting the NAM summit at Speke Resort Munyonyo with heads of state and representatives from member states attending it.
