Scores feared dead in Agwata road crash

Lira | At least four people, including a driver, have reportedly died after a fatal crash on Lira-Soroti highway.

A drone, whose registration number could not be ascertained by press time because of the damage, was carrying passengers from Mbale City to Lira Lity.

It crashed in Agwata forest – a few Kilometers to Lira City.

The driver was overtaking from the wrong side, an audio message from somebody seemingly aware of the incident says.

James Oboli, a lecturer of Fine Art – Faculty of Education at All Saints University Lango succumbed to injuries at Lira Regional Referral Hospital where he was rushed for immediate care.

In 2022, Uganda registered 20,394 cases of road crashes, higher than 17,443 registered in the past year – the Police’s annual crime report of that year shows.
