Security halts “United Forces of Change” end of year prayers

The top opposition political parties in Uganda, NUP, FDC and their allies had (have) dedicated December 30, 2022, as a prayer day as the year came to an end.

Under the theme: “Saving Uganda,” Nsambya Sharing Hall, Makindye division in Kampala is to host the anticipated prayers.

“Here is the ‘Plot’ for tomorrow, there is no better way to end the year other than by thanking God for all he has taken us through and for all that he is yet to take us through. See you Kesho, 9:00 am at Nsambya Sharing hall,” Deputy Lord Mayor, and an FDC ardent member, Doreen Nyanjura wrote on her Twitter handle, Thursday.

Just like her, Njanjura’s boss, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago said Thursday that “all is set for tomorrow. Come one come all. For God and My Country.”

Bobi Wine, NUP president would later respond, “I’ll be there!”

Wine’s comrade, Dr Kizza Besigye said: “It’s been a very tough year; next year may be tougher!”

With all the mobilizations and preparations, the event has been halted by security forces, according to the Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor, Nyanjura.

By press time, however, we could not get comments from the Police or the UPDF leadership about the event’s halt.

“Dr Kizza Besigye and I are surrounded by over 10 military cars on Jinja road. The military has tried to break into our car to no avail. They are now trying to deflate our car tyres,” Nyanjura said, concluding, “Aluta Continua.”

This is a Developing Story.
