NRM internal foes: Mukula wants ‘words of harmony’ from Museveni

Mukula has cited Vice President Jessica Alupo as someone making his work harder.

Oyam, July 31, 2022: The NRM regional vice chairman of Eastern Mike Mukula wants to meet president Kaguta Museveni before he can resign.

An insider in the ruling party says the frustrated flight captain Mukula, feels less appreciated by some top government officials.

These officials, also senior members of the party are highly valued by the President.

“He is trying to seek ‘words of harmony’ from Museveni and no feedback on the audience is expected yet,” TND News was told.

“We now have internal foes. This is dangerous for the party,” this party member, speaking on anonymity, added.

Mukula has cited Vice President Jessica Alupo as someone making his work harder. The VP could not be alone.

According to East News, the regional vice chairman was replaced with Alupo as NRM campaigned to reclaim Soroti City East Division MP seat.

The same digital outlet also reported that Alupo and Premier Robinah Nabanja and others were endorsed by Museveni to lead Ariko Edmund’s campaigns and vote protection.

These changes followed a “lack of trust” in Mike’s political strategies and less support he was getting from the NRM members in the area.

On Thursday, July 29, 2022, as reported by the Teso Media Centre (TMC), Mukula threatened to resign from the position.

His move got the support of the former MP aspirant for Ngariam County, Augustine Otuko, as reported by TMC.

Unlike in the previous elections, the Soroti City East MP by-election won by them is emerging to be a breaking point and center of confusion within the party.
